What is a Hedgewitch?

Updated: Sep 9

With autumn sneaking up on us, I thought it would be nice to set the record straight about hedgewitches. A Hedgewitch is a solitary practitioner of the herbal arts - medicinal and spiritual - and so much more.

Despite what Hollywood and society want you to believe, she ( or he) is an herbalist, naturalist, and knows Mother Earth can heal all things.

She is the person you call when you are sick, seek health, and spiritual guidance. Sometimes a HedgeWitch is also known as an Herbalist, Herbal Witch, Cottage Witch, or Plant Witch -- they are ALL good things. They can also be a Spirit Coach.

DID YOU KNOW? The word witch actually means wise.

This is true! So the etymology for witch is related to the English words wit, wise, wisdom.

So the next time you think or hear the word witch meaning something bad -- think again. She is the person you consult when strange things go bump in the night, or you are certain that someone just gave you the evil eye. She typically knows a thing or two about crystals also.
